He holds a PhD in cell biology from Virginia Tech, where his research focused on the effects of aneuploidy on chromosome segregation in cancer.

    Rebecca Benner has more than 20 years of experience in STM journal publishing. As the current Senior Managing Editor of Anesthesiology (flagship journal of the American Society of Anesthesiologists), she is responsible for the planning and implementation of journal editorial strategies and editorial operations. Rebecca is a member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing’s Early Career Subcommittee, and her professional interests include publishing standards and trends; the evolution of language and usage; and diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging in scholarly publishing and beyond.
  • Publication Data and Ethics Manager, American Chemical Society (ACS)

    Rocio joined ACS in June 2024 as a Publication Data and Ethics Manager. In her role, she provides guidance to ACS journals on ethics cases, promotes best practices and helps draft policies in accordance with industry standards as set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and assesses research integrity tools for the ACS Publishing Integrity Office. Prior to joining ACS, Rocio worked as an Editorial Manager at Science Advances, AAAS.
